GREETINGS one and all, and welcome to the brand new AtomicJukebox.com! This is the official web site of music promoter, graphic designer, writer & photographer, Jerry Clayworth. I've worked in the music community here in San Antonio & South Texas, in numerous capacities, for the better part of the last 25 years. Born and raised in Texas, I feel very fortunate to be smack-dab in the center of one of the richest musical regions in the country (if not the WORLD)! Since being handed down my first stack of records by a family member, which included Hank Snow's "Keep Moving On" on 78rpm, music has been the road I've traveled. Over these years, I've booked & promoted hundreds of shows, designed countless event posters, print ads, CD/record covers, and snapped at least 25,000 pictures. I'm currently excavating the archives, and will soon put together an illustrated bio/timeline page here on AtomicJukebox.com for those who are interested. More important, however, is what's happening HERE and NOW....

| Stand Up For Dublin Dr Pepper / Boycott DPSG.... When the multi-billion dollar corporation, the Dr Pepper Snapple Group decided to file suit against the oldest bottler of their product, Dublin Dr Pepper Bottling in Dublin, Texas, they ignited a firestorm of lifelong Texans and champions of small-town pride, tradition and heritage around the world. Thousand have decided to boycott DPSG products in a show of solidarity with the 120+ year old family-owned (three generations) Dublin Bottling Works. We at Atomic Jukebox believe strongly that DPSG, through their actions, have chosen to pull in a little more revenue at the expense of this tiny bottler who was one of the brand's cornerstones. We hope you'll read more about this, and join the boycott. Working class American heritage is the backbone of this country, and we can't let corporate America stamp it out without a fight.

The TEXAS MUSIC LEGENDS page is an introduction, or in some cases, a re-introduction to a few of the Lone Star State's finest music treasures. Some you will already know well, and there are others who you may be less familiar with... It's surprising how much Texas music history is hidden in plain sight, right there on the stages of our dancehalls, roadhouses, and juke joints for all to see. At one recent show I promoted, a patron came up to me after watching Burl Ellison play his trademark sweet, soulful guitar licks, and said "This guy is amazing! Has he ever played outside of San Antonio?" The answer is YES, if you consider touring all over the world as a guitarist for Ike & Tina Turner, Etta James, The Stylistics, and counless others playing "outside of San Antonio"... Then there was the colorful character in the cowboy hat & boots who sold rustic collectibles at a local flea market, entertaining customers with stories about the ol' Hill Country. What few knew, was that they were in the presence of famed cowboy/western singer Red River Dave McEnery, who first sang on the radio in Texas in the early 1930's. McEnery also became the very first paid television performer when he sang on a live broadcast from the 1939 New York World's Fair, and would go on to write & record some of the most popular country/folk songs of the 1940's & 50's. This is the kind of history that needs to be known, so I'll add another of their stories from time to time! Stop by the TEXAS MUSIC LEGENDS page by clicking HERE.

The ANNUAL RAM JAM is a once-a-year music fest & celebration that was established to honor a fallen friend, Ramiro "Ram" Ayala, and the live music venue & bar that he owned for 39 years. To so many, this little downtown San Antonio nightspot held far and away more soul, history, music, and family than an outside observer would ever guess. The list of bands, musicians, artists, bikers, celebs, locals, rich, and poor, who passed through the Taco Land doors would boggle the uninitiated mind. And ask a hundred different regulars what Taco Land meant to them, and you'd probably get a hundred different answers. Read more about The Annual RAM JAM by clicking HERE.
